A Reminder for New York State Residents

Remember to register to vote by October 11, 2019 for the November 5th 2019 local or special elections.

To ensure that you are able to vote in the Democratic primary in April 28, 2020 I would recommend confirming your registration in the Democatic party before October 11, 2019 as well.

Since there is a change of date for the NYS Federal primary,  voters will be able to join the Democratic party until February 14, 2020 allowing them to vote in the Democratic Primary on April 28, 2020.  No party changes can be made from February 15, 2020 until June 30, 2020,

If you move within the state you do not need to re-register in your new community, but you will have to use an affidavit ballot at your new polling place.  It would be easier to change your location before election day using a voter registration card,  available from your county Board of Elections and be able to use the regular ballot on election day.

NYS has early voting now.  You will need to check for times and locations with your local county Board of Elections.

Vote by mail / No excuse needed Absentee ballots are coming, but they need to go through the extended approval process as they are an amendment to the NYS Constitution.

There was a lot of wailing about the 2016 NYS Democratic Primary from folks who wanted to participate but did not register as a DEMOCRAT until it was too late.  CHECK your party registration, and help your less political friends if they are interested in Voting in the 2020 Democratic Primary.  These changes are going to work for NYS voters, but election law is not a priority for many.  Help NYS voters by sharing this information.  You must be Registered as a Democrat to vote in New York State Democratic Primary!
